Johannesburg. 31 March 2023. Tiger Brands, today, handed over a community vegetable garden to residents of Diepsloot, Johannesburg, as well as 50 Garden in a Box to community households The garden site and households were identified by Tiger Brands NGO partner, Witkoppen Health and Welfare Centre who work closely with the community.
The community garden was prepared by Tiger Brands partner, Reel Life, who also provided skills training on the day to community members on how to care for and maintain the garden, as well as how to develop and grow their household gardens.

In addition to the food garden handover and Garden in a Box, Tiger Brands donated 50 food parcels to families.
The community garden is part of Tiger Brands’ community and household food garden initiative which uses education and skills training to address food security and environmental sustainability, as well as supplement monthly community nutrition support offered by Tiger Brands.
Training provides individuals with skills needed to establish their own vegetable gardens for the benefit of their immediate family and community or to generate a small income. The 50 Garden in a Box will sustain each family for a year producing seasonal vegetables. The gardens can also be used to generate a small income. Reel Life will provide continual support.

Tiger Brands donates 150 food hampers each month to families in Diepsloot through the Witkoppen Health and Welfare Clinic.
